Peter Marathas, Esq. – Compliance Director
Peter Marathas is a Partner in the Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation & ERISA Litigation Practice Center at Proskauer Rose. He uses a practical, business-focused approach to counsel his corporate, tax-exempt, governmental and individual clients on complex executive compensation and employee benefits matters, including issues involving defined contribution and defined benefit retirement plans, ESOPs and other qualified plans.
Peter has developed a well-established regional and national reputation as being among a short list of employee benefits and executive compensation attorneys who can guide his clients through complex tax, securities, ERISA and corporate governance issues in a sensible, efficient and understandable manner. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Peter worked for years in human resources and his past-life experience informs his legal approach. He provides practical, business-minded advice that is informed not only by the controlling legal issues but also by market realities and shareholder perceptions.
Widely acknowledged for his technical knowledge, Peter has extensive experience negotiating equity, benefits and compensation matters in complex business transactions, executive employment and severance agreements, and retention and change of control agreements. He has experience designing and implementing qualified retirement plans, welfare plans, and equity and incentive programs that meet the numerous and intricate requirements of applicable federal and state law.
Stacy H. Barrow, Esq. – Compliance
Stacy H. Barrow is an Associate in the Labor & Employment Law Department and a member of the Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and ERISA Litigation Practice Center and the Health Care Reform Task Force at Proskauer Rose. With a special emphasis on health and welfare benefit plan arrangements, Stacy advises SIG and our clients on matters related to employee benefits and executive compensation.
Stacy assists his clients by auditing plan documentation and plan operation and identifying gaps that could lead to legal or regulatory issues. He also assists his clients in finding alternative strategies and implementing appropriate measures. In addition, Stacy has experience dealing with qualified retirement plans, such as 401(k) plans, and welfare and fringe benefit arrangements. He counsels his clients on issues arising under the various laws and regulations governing these types of arrangements, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, the Internal Revenue Code and other federal and state laws.
Prior to joining Proskauer, Stacy was an associate at an international law firm in Boston where he advised public, private and tax-exempt employers on employee benefits, ERISA and executive compensation matters. In addition, he has worked as a compliance consultant with an international insurance brokerage and risk management services firm, and an actuarial analyst at a “Big 4” public accounting firm.
Dr. Bruce Campbell – Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Campbell brings over 25 years of executive experience in healthcare, information technology, and managed care to our clients. He has held executive staff and operating positions in healthcare services companies, managed care plans, integrated delivery systems, medical groups and healthcare information technology companies.
His background includes serving as a Senior Vice President of Operations and the Chief Medical Officer of a national managed care company and as the Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of a public company operating Medicare Special Needs Plans and disease management programs.
He has particular interests in health plan performance improvement, health informatics, and value-based insurance design.
